September 16 set for Endorsement Meeting

Hi Portland Greens,

I wanted to remind everyone that on Wednesday, September 16, the Portland Greens will meet to pick our slate and endorse ballot initiatives for the 2015 election. We will meet in the State of Maine room at Portland City Hall. Come by from 6 to 6:30 to socialize. Business will begin at 6:30pm. All are invited to attend, but only those registered as a Green Independent in the City of Portland are able to vote.

At the August meeting, we agreed to only endorse registered Green Independents. The ballot has been set by the City Clerk Therefore, the only candidates we will consider for endorsement are:

School Board:

District 2: Holly Seeliger (http://hollyseeliger.com/)

City Council:
District 2: Rob Korobkin (http://robkforcouncil.com/)
At-Large: David Foster 
Mayor: Tom MacMillan (http://tom4portland.org/)

No Green Independents are seeking the following positions:Water District Trustee, Peaks Island Council, District 1 City Council

Ballot Initiatives:
Question 1, city ballot: An Ordinance Toward a Living Wage
Question 2, city ballot: An Ordinance to Add a City-wide Scenic Viewpoint Protection Tool to Portland’s Zoning Ordinance; to Save the View of Portland’s Working Harbor from Upper Fore Street as the First Protected Scenic Viewpoint; and to Require Certain Information to be Provided to the Public as part of a Zone Change Request, with a retroactive effective date of May 26, 2015

Question 1, state ballot: Maine "Clean Elections" Initiative
Question 2, state ballot: Maine Affordable Housing for Low-Income Seniors Bond
Question 3, state ballot: Maine Transportation Bond

Please come to the meeting to listen and ask questions of these candidates! Whomever we choose to endorse will be representing us both on the campaign trail and when elected.
